On 25.10.2017, the Investigation Officers of CIABOC have apprehended a Temporary Valuer of People’s Insurance Company, a subsidiary of People’s Bank when obtaininga bribe of Rs.5,000/- to issue a valuation report for an insurance claim related to an accident of a private bus.
A Grama Niladhari attached to the Thimbirigasyaya Divisional Secretariat and a civil person who assists him were taken into custody on 23.10.2017 by the Investigation Officers of CIABOC when obtaining a bribe of Rs.5,000/- of the solicited amount of Rs.25,000/- to make arrangement to a National Identity Card of a person and register his name in the Electoral Register of year 2017.
The Investigation Officers of CIABOC have apprehended a female Office Assistant attached to the District Motor Traffic Commissioner’s Officeon 12.10.2017 when obtaining a bribe of Rs.1,000/- to issue a number plate of a small lorry received by said office.
A Technical Officer of the Divisional Secretariat, Mandulla has been apprehended by the Investigation Officers of CIABOC on 11.10.2017 when obtaining a bribe of Rs.18,000/- of which Rs.15,000, a 3% of the contract estimate and Rs.3000 for bill preparation charges to issue recommendation to make payments of a contract of road development completed by the complainant by obtained through the Farmers’ Association of the area.
On 04.10.2017, the Investigation Officers of the CIABOC have apprehended two suspect when the 1st suspect who is a broker, receiving a bribe of Rs.2,000/- to make arrangements to get a copy of the motorcycle registration certificate through the officers of the Motor Traffic Department and the 2nd suspect who has been identified as an external person for offering Rs.2000/- in this regard to get the work done through the officers of the Department of Motor Traffic.
An Excise Officer has been taken into custody on 22.09.2017 by the Investigation Officers of the CIABOC when obtaining Rs.30,000/- out of the total of Rs.50,000/- having already obtained Rs.20,000 solicited from a person to abstain from taking him into custody for an alleged illegal cannabis business and to abstain from taking legal action against the complainant.
The Investigation Officers of CIABOC have taken into custody, the Principal of Maha Vidyalaya in Matara District on 12.09.2017, when obtaining a bribe of Rs.10,000/- through a hardware shop owner of the area that has been solicited from the complainant for admission of his disabled daughter into Grade 3 of same school.
A Beat Forest Officer has been apprehended by the Investigation Officers of CIABOC on 23.08.2017 when obtaining Rs.5,000/- of bribe for the month of August which has been solicited to be given Rs.5,000/- for each month to abstain from observing and taking legal action against shortcomings of the timber mill operated by the complainant without a permit.
The former Opposition Leader/ Chairman of a Pradeshiya Sabha has been apprehended by the Investigation Officers of CIABOC on 16.08.2017 when obtaining a bribe of Rs.100,000/- solicited to get the approval for a plan of a land of the complainant by getting assistance of the officers of Pradeshiya Sabha.
A Police Sargent has been taken into custody by the Investigation officers of CIABOC on 02.08.2017 for soliciting and obtaining a bribe Rs.10,000/- to release a tree cutting machine taken into custardy for the offence of felling down an Ahetu Tree without a permit and to abstain from taking legal action in that regard and furthermore, to allow to fell down a satinwood tree and tearing-up the same in due course.
The Investigation Officers of CIABOC have taken into custody a Police Constable on 01.08.2017 for soliciting a bribe of Rs.6,000/- in front of the Investigation Officers to abstain from taking legal action against an accident caused by colliding a three-wheeler on a post belonging to the Road Development Authority by retaining the driving license of the complainant and the National Identity Card of the Driver of three-wheeler as a guarantee.
