The Global Expert Group Meeting(EGM) on the Jakarta Principles concluded successfully today with delegates agreeing on the content of the Colombo Commentary on the Jakarta Principles. International anti-corruption experts from over 30 countries engaged in vibrant and intense discussions for 3 days on ways and methods to ensure anti-corruption agencies are effective and independent.
Higher standards of conduct from other public officials, autonomy over finances, and robust engagement with the public were flagged as some of the important elements necessary to ensure effective and independent national anti-corruption authorities. Today saw further exchanges of good practices from around the world which proved valuable for Sri Lanka.
