On 31.01.2025, Preceding Judge of Colombo Chief Magistrate Court No (1) Prasanna Alwis delivered the judgment of Case No. MCB-34056/01/2015 and convicted G. K. Kamalsiri Wijesinghe of Kosgama for being involved in soliciting and accepting a bottle of arrack as a bribe to abstain from taking legal action for driving a vehicle without a valid Revenue License or driving license.
Accordingly, the accused was convicted of two counts and 01-year jail term was imposed on each count. Additionally, a fine of Rs. 5,000/- was charged on each count. Mrs. Anusha Sammandanperuma (Assistant Director -Legal) handled the prosecution on behalf of the Commission.
