In 2013, the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption filed a case in the Colombo High Court against a Unit Manager of Mahaweli Authority for accepting a bribe from an individual to perform an official act and considering the preliminary objection raised by the defendant, the High Court judge ordered on 22/11/2022 to discharge the accused. The Commission preferred a revision application to the Court of Appeal on 29th May 2023 against the said High Court order.

After taking the said revision application for argument, the Court of Appeal ordered on 18th November 2024 to dismiss the High Court judgement delivered discharging the accused, and to retry the case.
