The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption investigated a complaint lodged by Kotteralalage Thilaksiri Caldera, which alleged that a loss had been caused to the Government by offering the contract of constructing a Laksala sales center at National Museum premises to an unqualified contractor, overriding the decisions of the Sri Lanka Handicraft Board Director Board.

After completing the investigations, legal proceedings against the former Laksala Chairman and former Managing Director were initiated before the Colombo High Court on 04.04.2024 under HCB 272/2024.
