In a pioneering effort to fortify professional ethics within the nation and raise awareness about the recently enacted Anti-Corruption Act No. 09 of 2023, the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CEYPETCO) and the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery and Corruption joined forces to conduct a comprehensive two-day prevention program.
The inaugural session, held on December 12, 2023, at the CEYPETCO main auditorium, marked the beginning of a series of initiatives aimed at bolstering integrity within the largest government-owned oil company, which has been serving the nation since 1962. Recognizing the vital role of CEYPETCO in providing essential services to the public, the program focused on strengthening the organization's commitment to integrity for a more people-centered service.
Prevention officers delivered lectures on strategies to prevent the escalation of corrupt practices and bribery, drawing insights from examples in other countries. The second day, on December 13, saw the successful continuation of the program with the active participation of area managers and executive officers from CEYPETCO.
The event received widespread acclaim, with positive feedback prompting CEYPETCO to commit to organizing similar prevention programs for their entire staff in the future. Over the two days, ADG Thanuja Bandara, along with Prevention Officers Sampath Arachchige, Nipuni Thennakoon, Rushanith Dilshani, and Shilamega Welithotage, contributed as resource personnel for the informative and insightful prevention.
